In 1963, the US Postal Service developed a numbering system to help with the increased volume of mail that was being distributed. Zip codes starting with the number "0" indicated areas in the northeast, while zip codes starting with the number "9" indicated areas in the northwest.
Along came the drama series 90210 in the fall of 1990, and we could all identify with our zip code. The show was based on a family that relocates to Beverly Hills from the midwest. The show made zip codes chic. We think people identify with zip codes & it is proven by the number of requests we get to add them to a custom designed bag. Below are examples.
